travelers active in Cape Town today Coffee, hikes, wine, a walk — see what's on.
🔒 Aggregate only — no pins until you're matched
A new version is ready
✨
Tap a cluster to see who's interested — exact spots stay blurred until you're in.
Safety Center
Every control here mirrors a real lesson from Strava's own privacy history — see the mapping at the bottom.
How far your posted location is fuzzed on the map before a match. Wider drift, weaker precision — always your call.
500 m
Unjoined or unmatched plans vanish on their own — no stale trail of where you've been.
Live Beacon
Share your exact real-time location with named contacts during a meetup — never with other Roammate users.
Exact pin needs a mutual match
The only way an exact spot is ever revealed — permanently on, this is the core safety guarantee.
Suggest public venues only
Revealed meeting spots default to a named café, trailhead, or bar — never a residential address.
Default-private→ Ghost mode starts every new account off the map entirely.
Privacy Zones→ Drift radius, but applied to every plan you post, not just home.
Beacon→ Live location goes only to contacts you name, on demand.
No public heatmap→ Auto-expiry means Roammate never accumulates a trail to leak.
Installable PWA
Roammate
A meetup app for solo travelers where the map shows what's happening nearby — coffee, hikes, wine, a walk — before it ever shows exactly where anyone is.
📍
Aggregate, not individualThe map plots activity clusters, never a person's pin. You see "6 want coffee in Bo-Kaap," not a stranger's dot.
🤝
Mutual reveal onlyAn exact meeting spot unlocks only once two people separately opt into the same plan — never from one side looking.
⏳
Nothing persistsEvery plan expires in hours, not days. Roammate keeps no location history to leak, subpoena, or heatmap by accident.
🛰️
Beacon, not broadcastReal-time exact location is only ever shared with people you name yourself — off the social graph entirely.
Where this comes from: Strava spent years learning this the hard way — a public global heatmap of quiet running routes once exposed the layout of military bases, which pushed it toward default-private accounts, Privacy Zones around sensitive locations, and Beacon's contacts-only live tracking. Roammate starts from those lessons instead of relearning them: see the Safety tab for exactly how each one translates. Matches in this build are simulated for demo purposes — a production version requires two real people to opt in before anything unlocks.
